Can AI replace associates and paralegals?
For a great deal of the work, yes. A lawyer still sets the strategy, judges the output, and owns every sentence. But with proper context and direction, AI's junior-lawyer work is often excellent. Lawyers who conclude the tools cannot do this work have usually never been shown how to direct them.
What should a law firm's AI training cover?
Designing the workflow end to end; spotting and fixing what it gets wrong; writing instructions and supplying context well enough to get a professional draft; and encoding the team's own procedures and templates so every lawyer works the same way. Training that stops at tool demonstrations produces enthusiasm and no change in output.
Who should teach AI training to lawyers?
Lawyers, and specifically lawyers who use AI effectively on real matters. In a pending Ninth Circuit appeal, both sides used AI to help with drafting and research. In three minutes with the opposing brief, Showalter PLLC’s Claude skill found that it rested a central argument on a hallucination. That is the difference between using AI well and using it poorly, and it is why your team should learn from practitioners.
What does an AI system audit involve?
A kickoff and questionnaire, interviews and observed working sessions with your lawyers, a review of sanitized sample workflows and templates, and a written report with a prioritized roadmap, followed by a debrief with your leadership team.
Will you need access to client files?
No; we work from sanitized or hypothetical examples.
What formats are available, and how long do they take?
A keynote of 60 to 90 minutes, a half-day workshop of three to four hours, a full-day workshop of six to eight hours with practice-group breakouts and a follow-up consultation, and ongoing monthly advisory.
Which AI tools and models do you work with?
Principally Anthropic’s Claude and OpenAI’s ChatGPT, but our training and consulting is translatable across models.
